Vegetarian Rice Dumpling

Ingredients

Dumpling                                                                                     

Saroja Nagarajan and Swathi

Rice flour

1 cup

Salt

1 pinch

Water

1.5 cups

Oil

2 teaspoons

 

Filling

Carrots                 

2 medium size (grated)

Cabbage

1 cup (Shredded)

Peas      

½ cup (frozen)

Green Chillies

2 medium (chopped finely

Ginger  

1 cm cube (grated)

Mustard seeds

½ teaspoon

Salt

to taste

Asafoetida

a pinch

Cumin seeds

½ teaspoon

 Equipment

  Pressure cooker

  Blender

  Idli plates

 

Method:

First make rice flour dough:

Pour 1.5 cups water into a cooking vessel and add salt and 1 teaspoon oil and boil.

Add rice flour slowly with stirring preventing clumps.

Keep aside closed.

 

Make the Filling

In a separate fry pan, add a teaspoon of oil and add the mustard seeds, cumin seed and asafoetida.

When mustard seed splutter, add the chopped vegetables, green chillies and ginger.

Add salt and cook until done.

Keep aside

 

Dumpling 

Make small balls with the cooked rice flour dough.

Make each into a cup with your hands

Fill sufficient vegetable and close at the top resembling a stuffed dumpling.
